On my main Blog I have written a new post to let those that "kinda know me" really get a chance to know the story behind my journey of how I got to where I am today and what decisions I had made to get me here.

12 Second Commute Members, You Have To Read This Post!

I have been a Charter Member of 12 Second Commute since inception. At one point I had requested a change in my Username, within 24 hours I went from bt79828 to AngieMitchell.

I was happy as a pig in (you know what!)

I never gave bt79828 another thought. I had a new member join my team and he informed me that one of my tracking links was not going to my 12SC affiliate links. I checked it and it took me to what I thought was one of my pages that did not include a picture and contact information of myself.

So I left it alone.

This is a portion of his first email to me:

Hi Angie,

blah, blah, blah…

“On another note… it seems to me that you are loosing referrals in your 12SC business… your url http://www.12path.com/internetmarketingtools doesn’t point to your affiliate link… try visit other people 12SC affiliate link and then visit http://www.12path.com/internetmarketingtools … you will see their name in the sign-up page.”

I assured him that everything was kosher and not to worry.

My new found friend was insistent that it was not linked to me. So I checked it out again and it did the same thing. I was starting to think he was a bit confused.

This morning he sent me another email:

“I’ll contact you today via skype, you are loosing sales in 12SC!”

So again I go and check, I cleared my cookies and my cache and refreshed the link….. AH HA!

I WAS LOSING SALES!!

I saw a totally different affiliate page than I saw the first 2 times, this time I saw pictures and contact info of other members.

I cleared all history and did this a few more times… I saw multiple 12 Second Commute Charter members pages.

I did not realize that if you change your Username, your old links attached to your old Username will become “floaters” and act as a giant rotator for all the Members of 12SC!

I had assumed that the system would automatically make the switch.

NO, NO, NO… It does not.

So for the past 7 months some of the Members here at 12SC may have gotten signups and benefited from my hard work to some extent, let me be the first to say Congratulations if you have…

I actually contacted a few of my close contacts and discussed my concern, I had boiled it down and explained it off as “an extended silly season.”

Needless to say, (after almost blacking out) I went through all of my old affiliate tracking links and made the correction.

I ended up changing 19 tracking links that had a combined count of over 10,000 hits and a few of those had a boat load of traffic going to them to boot!

Am I pissed?

Not at all… I look at it as I’ve done my good deed for the next 5 years

Even after this BROBDINGNAGIAN faux pas, I wanted to share something that has been very valuable to me and a few other people I know.

You can take it or you can leave it, but I have spent many hundreds of dollars and a countless number of hours to learn certain skills that have benefited me (you have to be willing to do that sometimes if you want to be successful.)

List Building - 3 Tips To Always Keep In Mind

I’m sure you’ve heard by now if you are involved in the internet marketing industry that list building, sustaining that list, and selling to a targeted list is the most profitable option to making money on the internet.

Of course there are other options, which is why, in my opinion, making a living online is a fantastic and exciting means of employment. That coupled with the fact the I don’t like to work around someone else’s schedule allows me to work on the number one most important aspect with working online, list building.

I’ll be the first to admit that list building isn’t easy – in fact, it’s one of the hardest things to do online, and anyone who tells you different is straight up trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

Building a list, and keeping a list takes constant dedication to your niche and your customers. This article will briefly go over some of the best ways you can build, sustain, and profit from your list. Assuming you are using the right online marketing tools ie: email autoresponders, capture page creator, contact manager etc? These are the types of marketing tools you will need to build your list.

Sounds pretty straight forward, right?

List building.

First of all we all have to start somewhere so if you are reading this and you have nobody on your list, I want you to pay very close attention to this next line: Building your list starts and ends with your willingness to help people with a particular problem they are facing, and a solution you are providing.

You can use many different methods to build your list; the 3 big ones are organic traffic, paid traffic, and referral style traffic.

You might trial and error to see what works best for you. I’ve found that organic traffic works best with article marketing and blogging. Once you have brought people to your site, blog, or sales page you must capture their excitement by getting their email address, name, and any other information you might be asking for on your opt-in form. You must use an opt-in form to do this, and this a tool no marketer should be without.

Sustaining your list.

Getting people to sign up for your list is one thing, but keeping them there, informed, and excited is another. There are several ways you can keep your lists attention. A great way of doing this is to have at least 4-6 months worth of weekly emails that will automatically be sent to them. This will do 2 things; keep them informed and keep you in the know about what’s new in your niche.

Profiting to your list.

The most exhilarating part about having your own list is being able to convert them and make a profit. One very important thing to note: if you are involved with an affiliate program and do not own your own email autoresponder and keep using the companies, you are likely building the companies list and not your own. Ask if you are able to take your list with you if or when you leave.

Do not become one of those marketers that try to sell their lists on a daily basis. You will find out very quickly that your list is not interested in buying something from you everyday. Instead, pick your times, and offer something of value before you try to sell to them.

If you have not offered something valuable yet, then you are not ready to sell to your list.

Investing In A 12 Second Commute With A Simple Automatic Responder

There are many online tools you can use to market and manage a business but the one I'm going to focus on is the automatic responder also called email autoresponders.

This is a service provided to you by a company that you will have an account with. The price of this service is going to vary a lot and you usually will have to invest monthly, I'd really like to stress the word "invest" because that is exactly what you will be doing... investing in your business. There are free services out there but I personally avoid them.

If you are new to online marketing and are a bit confused about where to start, you are not alone. Many new comers to the industry are slowly but surely learning the importance of using tools to market and manage their online business and you will too.

At first, you may not have a clue what marketing tools are, that is why I'm writing this, to help you better understand what they are and why they should be considered if you want to have a profitable business.

When a customer shows an interest in your product, program or service, you need to follow up with that person, if you don't you will most likely lose that sale.

Using an automatic responder to do your personalized follow up, can dramatically increase the amount of sales you receive as well as cut down the time it would take you to do this manually.

Once someone is interested in what you have to offer and requests more information there are numerous things that can distract them away from what they have requested so that's why it is vital to get your offer in front of a customer more than once. Most times a customer will not take you up on your offer on the first exposure so ideally you will want to have this placed in front of them 5-7 times and you do this with a sequence of automatic responder messages.

How do they start to receive your messages? Well, if you already have a program you are involved with, you may already have a Capture Page. When someone signs up to your capture page, they will start to receive your messages one at a time and hopefully you are able to edit these messages as you see fit because some messages can come across too "selly" and people don't like to be sold to. You should be in complete control as to how many days, weeks or even months apart they will receive your messages.

One thing to really pay attention to; if you are involved with a program and people sign up to your capture page chances are if you do not have your own personal capture page and automatic autoresponder you are probably building the companies list not your own!

Say a year from now you quite promoting the product, program or service you are currently involved with... will you be able to take your list with you?

So a solution to this is, if you already have an autoresponder with your current company, you can easily copy and paste the autoresponder series of letters into your own email autoresponder account and you can even copy the capture page and make your own using the same information putting in your own sign up form and then link the 2 together and still promote this way you will have your own personal list you can take with you wherever you go.

That is why I can not stress enough getting your own automatic responder account, all the hard work that goes into building your list, your business and ultimately your future is going to be all for nothing if you can't take your list with you.

Once you start building your list you must never stop.

These are what we call "hot leads" people who are interested in what you have to offer, all you have to do is give them what they want and eventually they will purchase, maybe not today, next week but maybe in 3 months from now.

The timing has to be right for them to purchase and you want to be there when that time comes!

Let me tell you, I was searching the internet today looking for "email marketing tools," I was doing a little comparison shopping and holy cow!

When selecting an email marketing provider, price is always a factor in the decision-making process, cool... I understand that.

As soon as I found this company (I'll leave unnamed) I had to write a blog post to warn the new comers to the online marketing world.

I just found a company that "offers GREATER VALUE and a greater variety of pricing packages than any other service on the market today."

This one service in particular I found is asking $159.90/mth for you to be able to send out 100,000 emails a month. They gotta be kidding right? I mean seriously?

See, that's what makes me so pissed off! Everybody has the best value and the best pricing... Don't get me wrong, I think having options is great but seriously $159.90/mth for an autoresponder with limitations?

And their bare bones plan which allows you to send out 2,000 emails a month was $19.90/mth and an additional $5.00 for an additional 1000 if you went over your allowed 2,000.

As far as I'm concerned the company that provides me with my autoresponder service (12 Second Commute) has "given the farm away" with the promotion going on now, unlimited complete set of online and email marketing tools for $19/mth. (summer time special offer) You can't beat that bargain, plus up to 60% commission... I'm staying!

I can't tell you how many email autoresponders I get from these so called Guru's. When I was first starting out online I gorged myself with what they were selling, teaching, and advising me how to grow with my online business.

Hook, line and sinker... I was sold. I actually thought they cared and were going to help me. They only wanted my money and my share of the wad that lined their pockets.

I received countless email autoresponders from this one "guru" (very well known to internet marketing) and he started off so positive and encouraging but after getting about the fourth message about one particular product he was pushing, it started getting a bit nasty.

Granted, (before knowing any better) I did buy some of his fluff in the past. I can guarantee you I will never purchase anything from this money grubbing crook again! What a royal jerk! I'd like to share with you the last email autoresponder I got from him.

And to avoid getting myself in trouble, I'll leave out his Name and his latest and greatest product he was trying to get me to purchase that was "going to change my life!"

I've wanted to write a thank you to all my friends for some time now...

I want to publicly say thank you to all my friends. You know who you are. I learned so much and it really does mean a lot to me. Social media has created a whole new set of “friends” who know a lot about me and care about me, even though I may have never met in person. In fact some of my closest friends, I have met online. Many of these friends have taken the time to mold me into the Entrepreneur I am today.

They took the time to drop what they were doing and reach out. Thank you.

Most touching are the “friends” I have never met, or maybe met briefly. Your stories and friendships are heartwarming. You continue to motivate and inspire me and that means more to me than you will ever know.

This past year as some of you know has been at times overwhelming and a roller coaster to say the least. Keyword Rich Content and Article Marketing Is The Ticket!

One of the cheapest, easiest and fastest ways to bring free organic traffic to your website is by Article Marketing. The three biggest things that will make your website a big hit as it continues to grow is: popularity, navigation, and good content.

Navigation is in the hands of the Webmaster. However, popularity and content is all you baby! The more value you offer in your articles and the more articles you submit the more popular you will become.

The web is controlled by search engines and they are information junkies (often referred to as internet spiders). And like any junkie, they are forever searching for the next fix. When a search engine gets high on some good content it rewards its owner (YOU) by promoting a websites ranking which generates the always welcome organic (free) traffic. And traffic is the life support of internet.

The internet spiders are hungry! They need to be fed!

Make sense?

Your content needs to have certain requirements to have any real value. Search engines find search requests from users by using a system that uses keyword rich information that incorporate keywords into the body of your written content. If you have not taken the time to do keyword research or if you hate writing then I'd suggest hiring a skilled writer to do it for you. It will pay off in the long run!

Writing content just to have content out there without using keywords will be a humongous waste of your time. (Unless you are someone who just loves to write for the sake of writing or for your personal Blog) The competition is so vast people will never find you.

Let me try to explain...

If you were to write about "how to make money online" you'll see that the Google search results come back saying there are roughly 127,000,000 results. Ummmm... good luck getting found for those keywords. The only people getting all the traffic are the ones on the first few pages.

But, if you were to render it down and be more specific and let's say write about "make money online selling Avon hair products", Google returns 19,600 search results.

Chances of you getting on Page one of Google for that will be much much easier and happen faster as you submit more articles. You will be targeting a specific audience and putting your keyword rich content in front of the right people. (If that was what you were marketing.) But you get my point right?

Targeted Traffic + Conversions = Profit!

You can't just mention your keywords once or twice either. I've been told so many different numbers to use for keyword density, I honestly don't know for sure which one is the correct number to be following... I've heard anywhere from 3% up to 10% but I don't know for sure so I aim somewhere in the middle. If you do know leave me a comment, please and thank you!

That's why it's crucial to do your keyword research, find your target audience within your niche.

I kind of got off topic a bit but I got on a roll with explaining the importance of keywords rich content if you want to try article marketing but hey, sometimes it happens...

I receive emails all too often asking me to check out some new life-changing software/system/tool that will most certainly change my life. While all of these online marketing tools mean well, 90% miss on the most important part of product, program or service management.

Simplicity.

I’ve come across dozens of online marketing tools, and I can say with certainty that the number one most important aspect of good online tools is it needs to be drop-dead simple. Unfortunately, this is the number one most-overlooked aspect as well.

I don't necessarily use all the fancy schmancy tools I have available to me, although very handy when I do need them. I do make great use of the Autoresponder, Contact Manager, Capture Page Creator, Link Tracker, SEO Tools... these are all standard tools when working online. Sure, I could use a sharp stick on leather if I wanted to. (Note to self: get more leather at local tannery.)

Are free email autoresponders safe for your online marketing business? I will show you three main issues behind a free email autoresponder offer and how to escape them.

As you may have heard, knowledge is power: if you know the dangers, you can avoid them.

I’m talking about free online marketing tools you can have access to by way of a free subscription. Sometimes you could find yourself bombarded with spam or, even worse, malware before you even realize it.

Of course, if your goal is to make money online you have to be careful when using free online marketing tools, a good dose of malware would definitely throw a wrench into things, free is not always the way to go in my own opinion.

The most important online marketing tool is email autoresponders, Many companies offer a free autoresponder account. Unfortunately, not all these offers are really what they seem.

Here is a list of things to watch out for.

1) A 1 Month Free Trial

Most of the top autoresponder companies offer a free account with this clause: "You will receive an account free of charge for a trial period of one month and then, if you then decide to keep it, you must pay the monthly fee."

To escape this trap you need to carefully check the terms and conditions before subscribing. If you decide to use the free email autoresponders just to test the service out, it’s no skin off your back if you drop you account at the end of the month. However, if you do indeed decide to use the free account for the real intent to grow your online business, make certain you don’t loose your subscribers at the end of the 1st month. The only way to escape this is to make sure, before subscription, that the service allows you to export your subscribers list. Once exported, you get your asset and you can import it and market it with any other email autoresponder service.

2) Limited Follow-ups

One of the main limitations of free email autoresponders has to do with the number of follow-up messages you can import. Obviously, you will need at least a follow-up series for each one of your marketing campaigns, but this is something many newbies don’t realize. That’s why they may discover how a free email autoresponder may limit their business when discover, it’s too late.

An easy way to escape this trap is to subscribe for more than one account to the same service: If the free autoresponder service gives you 3 follow-up series, you could subscribe for two accounts and get access to 6 series. Most of the time, the only thing you need is another email address, and you can get as many as you want at gmail.com (within reason) then again this does require a bit more work to manage. This is up to you to evaluate: You should plan in advance which kind of business you want to build and how many campaigns it will need. If the campaign number is high as compared to the maximum follow-up series of the account, maybe the price you’re going to pay for it will be too high. As before, check the terms and conditions before subscribing then make your plans accordingly. I personally would never go this route because I don't need the headache.

3) Low Level Instruction (how to use the darn things)

If you have never used email autoresponders before you might find that with a free service that there is little to no real instruction on how to properly set them up and use them to your advantage. When working online you know that time is precious, you do not want to find yourself bouncing from page to page like a confused crazy person unable to find what you needed. Again, it depends on the service you choose. What I can suggest you to do to avoid falling in this trap is to check the instructions and tutorials right away after subscription and before launching any marketing campaigns.

Everybody learns differently, some need to read it, some need to hear it, some need to watch it and some need all three and there is nothing wrong with that.
